My Dear Friends!
Whenever we have been faced with adversity, it has
always amazed me how the Arts Community steps up, steps forward and
does what we do best… lift spirits.
I know that this is a VERY troubling time for all
artists and theaters, not only in the United States but across the
globe. In this time, I have seen such empathy and generosity from
the Arts Community. Dancers giving free classes online, singers
entertaining with impromptu cabarets, celebrity artists reaching
out to high schools and those of us whose show have been postponed
or even cancelled are just a few examples of how OUR community
ALWAYS responds in times of crisis.
Things are confusing and there is much to be
thought about on every level these days. Concerns range from health
(mental and physical), economic factors, logistical issues and
everyone’s individual situations. Know this- we will come through
this! It may take time and maybe not to the ends you would like but
we will see each other at the end.
Don’t feel overwhelmed. Just do what you can day by
day, then week by week. One thing at a time. Everything in life is
a lesson and maybe the lesson today is slow down. Appreciate
everything and in the quiet moments you find your truth.
Be smart, be patient and most importantly BE KIND.
Do what we do best… we lift the spirits of those around us and in
doing so we are global. So sing your songs, tell your jokes, dance
your dance and when the time comes to rebuild the world, the
artists will have already built an amazing foundation.
